Three District Hospitals Receive Excellence Award for Quality Improvement

The Delmarva Foundation of the District Columbia announced that three District Hospitals received the Excellence Award for Quality Improvement for 2013. Recipients of the Award are MedStar Georgetown University Hospital, MedStar Washington Hospital Center, and Sibley Memorial Hospital. According to Delmarva the “Excellence Award for Quality Improvement in Hospitals recognizes individual hospital performance improvement in four national inpatient clinical areas: acute myocardial infarction; heart failure; Surgical Care Improvement Project; and pneumonia.” Recipients of this award must achieve or exceed a 90% individual performance rate across 14 measures across all 4 quarters of 2012 and have aggregate performance rate above 96% for the four quarters as well.

Delmarva Foundation of the District of Columbia is the Quality Improvement
Organization designated by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services in the District and helps implement programs to “improve health quality, efficiency, and value.” Congratulations to this year’s recipients on their achievement and there continued commitment to improve quality.  DCHAdvocate, August 2, 2013
